This year’s National No Smoking Day was on ![]()
This is an important date in the calendar for smokers who have stopped or want to stop. It celebrates and recognises their significant achievement in stopping smoking.
NHS Islington hosted their own celebrations and got the local community
involved. Our street campaign culminated with a number of street
teams and a photowall station at the N1 Centre all day,
and a grand tour of the borough on a branded
double-decker bus. We visited:
- Angel Tube Station - Street outreach team spoke to people wanting to stop smoking.
- Nags Head Shopping Centre, Holloway Road - Spoke to shoppers about the benefits of stopping smoking.
- Islington College, Camden Road - Where we demonstrated software to age the faces of students to show them what they'd look like as a smoker at age 75.
- Whittington Hospital - Ran a full day drop-in clinic for people to stop smoking on the day.
- Highgate Mental Health Unit - Patient outreach initative for vulnerable clients.
Our friendly smokefree advisors were on board and gave CO readings to test the carbon monoxide levels in the lungs of smokers.
A total of 2,357 interventions were generated with 784 high quality leads.
